The Switch is a San Francisco-based Lindy Hop dance workshop that strives to deliver an excellent weekend experience with an emphasis on creating a space in which dancers can choose their dance roles as leaders and followers, free from any pressures exerted by modern day gender norms. We aim to encourage discussions about gender equality and safe space culture in the lindy hop community through our classes, dance, and competitions.

The Switch seeks to enable dancers to learn as both leaders and followers, and to explore the unique dimensions of the dance that can arise from understanding both perspectives. We find that being "ambidancetrous" can open new doors in many facets of lindy hop in terms of creative ideas, dance pedagogy, and the exploration of fluid roles within a dance.
