Code of Conduct
The Switch is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable event experience for everyone, therefore all attendees, instructors, staff, and volunteers at The Switch are required to comply with the following code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event. We are expecting cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.
The Switch is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable event experience for everyone, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, ability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion (or lack thereof).
We do not tolerate the harassment or discrimination of event participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any event venue, including dances, workshops, competitions, Twitter, Facebook, and other online media. Event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event without a refund at the discretion of the conference organizers.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of workshops or other events, violence, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event with no refund.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of event staff immediately. Event staff can be found via the front desk at any venue.
Event staff will be happy to help participants contact venue staff or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance and your safety.
We expect participants to follow these rules at dance and workshop venues.
This document was based on Fog City Stomp's code of conduct, which originated with confcodeofconduct.com. Feel free to use this, as-is or in a modified form, for your own dance event.
Safe Spaces Policy
We work hard to make sure that The Switch is an event where everyone, no matter their gender identity, race, or sexual orientation, feels safe and comfortable at our event. We have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, sexual harassment, or verbal or physical violence at our event. The safety of every attendee is important to us at The Switch.
Here are the concrete steps we’re taking in order to ensure everyone’s safety at our event:
Staff members will be informed before the event about our zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, sexual harassment, or verbal or physical violence, as outlined in our Code of Conduct. The Switch expects staff members to serve as role models for the community, so we hold them up to the same standard as our instructors.
We have updated our Code of Conduct and encourage everyone to read it.
We will have signs indicating gender neutral bathrooms at each venue.
Our Safe Spaces Officers will be resources during the event for attendees and will be announced at the event. They will wear pins to identify themselves.
As always, if you have any concerns or comments, please email us at
